In general, I feel that I express myself best in writing. That may be because I’ve always had a passion for reading, or because I watched too much “Gilmore Girls” as a kid, or because I took all my aspirations of becoming a writer and funneled them into a journalism degree in college.
Whatever the reason, despite hours spent hashing out philosophical concepts with peers and professors in college (and several more arguing about fandom with Reed), I’ve never felt particularly eloquent when I speak.
On the other hand, Reed is an excellent speaker.
So obviously, when they asked if I’d be interested in doing a podcast about the SyFy adaptation of Lev Grossman’s The Magicians, I was hesitant. But the idea of it also excited me — this show is so great! It’s making me want to re-read a book I really disliked! I love everything about it! — so of course, I said yes.
On Sunday, we watched the pilot together and then talked for an hour and some change — except this time, instead of just analyzing in our living room, we recorded what we had to say.
Today, the podcast was released into the wild! This post serves no purpose other than to announce the launch of it, and to link to the first episode, and to encourage you to follow the social media pages and hang out with us!
New episodes will be released every Thursday. We’re watching and discussing one episode a week, starting with 1×01. If you want to follow along, check us out on Tumblr, Twitter, and Facebook! I’ll post links to new episodes in my sidebar each week.
It’s going to be so rad!
